Networking Stress Testing

Early details of our first stress test for Wilderness

Hi guys,

We are excited to announce our first of many stress tests. This will be available to backers only. After re-basing all of our networking code, we feel that we need to have some rigorous out-of-house testing. With this, we are announcing our first stress test, which will help us to test the netcode with people from a variety of different locations. The things we will be testing are:

    • Without passwords
    • With passwords
    • With a whitelist
    • With players banned
  • Hosting servers
  • Movement
    • Synchronisation across the network
    • Lag compensation
  • Stat synchronisation
    • Food
    • Health
    • Stamina
    • Thirst
  • Performance
    • Memory usage
    • Framerate
  • Server management
    • Kicking
    • Banning
    • Server-side commands
  • UI
    • Main Menu
    • Pause Menu
    • Options

We will announce more details closer to the stress test. All backers will, however, be under a Non-Disclosure Agreement, which will ensure that details about the game are not disclosed, and avoiding giving a bad impression due to any bugs in such an early state.

This is the start of a wide variety of stress tests, involving more and more features of the game as we develop and refine them, such as inventory, crafting, mining, base-building and more.

We hope you are as excited as we are. The development for this iteration Wilderness has been progressing for coming up to a year. This first reveal to those who have supported us will be the first of many steps towards releasing it widely as an Early Access game.
